Symbolically, the spiral shows growth in its natural state. It also serves as a decorative pattern used by the Oceania’s populations. For the Maoris it represents the act of creation while for Polynesians it is the safeguard for immortality. In Occident, the spiral is also used as a decorative pattern on megalithic burial mounds.
